Youth Action

Inspiring moments of youth engaging in environmental and mental wellness initiatives.

OUR ACTIVITIES ON 2025

Welcome to Our 2025 Projects. Since January, we’ve been walking with purpose mentoring boys, planting trees, and building safe spaces for emotional growth and environmental care. Every activity is a story in motion, and you’re invited to be part of it.

Whether you’re joining a clean-up, supporting our tree nursery, attending a mentorship session, or celebrating milestones with us welcome. This is a movement of truth, healing, and transformation. Let’s grow together.

KIJANA IMARA INITIATIVE

At Mpenda Mazingira Youth Initiative CBO, mentorship is more than a program it is a sacred journey. It is the heartbeat of our movement, the space where boys become men of purpose, empathy, and resilience. In a world where the boychild is often overlooked, misunderstood, or left behind, we choose to walk with him slowly, intentionally, and truth Our mentorship program was born from a deep need: the silent struggles of boys in our communities. Many carry unspoken pain, unanswered questions, and untapped potential. We saw this. We listened. And we responded not with pity, but with presence. We created a space where boys could be seen, heard, and guided with love Since January 2025, we’ve journeyed through four seasons of mentorship, each designed to nurture emotional intelligence, spiritual grounding, and leadership. Our sessions are not lectures they are conversations. Circles of trust. Places where vulnerability is honored and growth is celebrate We explore themes that matter: identity, mental health, relationships, purpose, and emotional resilience. We ask questions like: Who am I when no one is watching? What does it mean to be strong and gentle? How do I handle anger, shame, or rejection? What kind of man do I want to become? We use storytelling as a tool for healing and transformation. Parables, metaphors, and real-life testimonies help boys connect with their own journeys. We believe that every boy has a story and when he learns to tell it with truth and courage, he begins to heal. He begins to lead.Faith is a cornerstone of our mentorship. We draw wisdom from Scripture, prayer, and spiritual reflection. Not to preach, but to guide. We help boys understand that they are loved, chosen, and capable not just by society, but by God. We teach them that leadership begins with humility, and that emotional strength is not weakness, but wisdom.

Our mentorship is also practical. We equip boys with life skills communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, and goal setting. We help them navigate social media, peer pressure, and the challenges of growing up in a fast-changing world. We prepare them to be responsible sons, brothers, students, and future fathers

We do not walk alone. Our program is supported by a network of mentors, mobilizers, and community champions who give their time, wisdom, and hearts. We honor these supporters with gratitude, public recognition, and tailored tributes. Their presence reminds the boys that they are not forgotten they are surrounded.

One of our most powerful moments is the mentorship graduation ceremony, scheduled for October 10, 2025. It aligns with World Mental Health Day and Kenya’s Mazingira Day, symbolizing the fusion of emotional healing and environmental care. On this day, we will celebrate 52 boys who have completed the journey not just with certificates, but with stories, songs, and shared reflection. It will be a public declaration that boys matter, that their growth is sacred, and that their voices deserve space.

Our mentorship program is not a one-time event. It is a lifelong invitation. Many of our alumni continue to serve, lead, and inspire others. Some will help run our upcoming tree nursery project, raising 50,000 trees with care and commitment. Others will become mentors themselves, passing on the wisdom they received

We believe that when a boy is mentored well, a community is transformed. He becomes a leader who listens, a friend who cares, and a citizen who protects the earth. He becomes a man who knows his worth and helps others find theirs.

At Mpenda Mazingira Youth Initiative CBO, we do not just mentor boys. We raise a movement. A generation. A legacy.

If you are a parent, teacher, pastor, partner, or friend we invite you to walk with us. Support a boy. Sponsor a session. Share your story. Together, we can raise boys who lead wisely, love deeply, and live responsibly.

Teens for Tomorrow

At Mpenda Mazingira Youth Initiative CBO, we believe that climate action begins with awareness and that teens are not just future leaders, but present change makers. Our Climate Change Advocacy Training equips secondary school students with the knowledge, voice, and tools to understand environmental challenges and take meaningful action.

This program blends science, storytelling, and service. We simplify climate concepts from global warming and deforestation to waste management and water conservation using relatable examples and interactive sessions. Teens learn not just what climate change is, but why it matters to them, their families, and their communities.

We emphasize emotional intelligence and advocacy. Students explore how climate anxiety affects their wellbeing, how to channel concern into action, and how to speak up with clarity and courage. Through role plays, debates, and creative expression, they become confident environmental ambassadors.

Our sessions include:

Climate Basics & Local Impact

Understanding how global issues affect Ngong, Kajiado, and Kenya’s ecosystems.

Youth-Led Solutions

Brainstorming school-based projects like tree planting, cleanups, and awareness campaigns.

Advocacy Skills

Training on public speaking, social media messaging, and engaging local leaders

Faith & Stewardship

Exploring the spiritual call to care for creation, rooted in Scripture and values.

Emotional Resilience

Helping teens process eco-emotions and build hope through community action.

We partner with schools, churches, and local organizations to deliver this training in a way that’s engaging, culturally relevant, and empowering. Every session ends with a call to action because we believe that knowledge without movement is incomplete.

This isn’t just a program. It’s a movement of teens who care, speak and act. A generation that sees the earth not as a resource to exploit, but as a gift to protect.

Program Aim

The aim of this program is to equip teenagers with climate knowledge, emotional resilience, and advocacy skills so they can become bold, informed voices for environmental action in their schools and communities. We seek to nurture a generation that understands the impact of climate change, feels empowered to respond, and leads with empathy, truth, and care for creation.
